JOANIE WEBSTER
Nancy “Joanie” Webster (Oben) serves as President and is in her eighth year at Robinson HS in Tampa, Fla. She advises the yearbook, newspaper and broadcast staffs. Webster received the 2018 JEA Rising Star at the JEA/NSPA National Journalism Convention. Before teaching, she worked as a marketing and communications coordinator for a nonprofit in Atlanta. KEN KILLAM Ken Killam is a native Pensacolian who attended St. Petersburg Junior College, Pensacola Junior College, and University of West Florida. Killam has an AA in business, a BA in English, and an MA in English. He began his teaching career in 1989 at then Pensacola Junior College as an adjunct English instructor. Killam began teaching high school full time at Catholic High, where he worked for five years, serving as adviser for the newspaper Crusader Gold and literary magazine Tesserae In 2000, he started teaching at Gulf Breeze High, and has taught every level of high school, plus Creative Writing and History of Cinema. In 2004, Killam became nationally certified. He served as the adviser for both GBHS newspaper, Blue and Gold and Angle of Reflection literary magazine. . D4 DIRECTORSUSAN MCNULTYSusan McNulty is The Stampede yearbook adviser at J.W. Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, Florida. In her eight years as adviser, The Stampede has been named a Sunshine Standout, a NSPA Pacemaker finalist and winner, a CPSA Silver Crown winner, and received All-Florida for eight straight years. She has been Pasco County Teacher of the year, a JEA Rising Star, FSPA Teacher of the Year, and an FSPA Gold Medallion winner. She serves as judge and presenter at FSPA district and state workshops as well as NSPA national conferences. VICE PRESIDENT MIKE BJORKLUND Michael Malcom-Bjorklund, CJE, advises the Columbian Media program at Columbia H.S. in Lake City, Fla., after a successful 16-year professional career in the media industry with both the Chicago Sun-Times Media Group and Scripps Howard. With a degree in journalism, a master's in education and a dozen professional writing and design awards under his belt, Malcom-Bjorklund now serves as the Vice President for the Florida Scholastic Press Association. DENISE HONEY Denise Honey currently teaches video production at St. Francis Catholic Academy and photography at Santa Fe College in Gainesville Florida. Denise holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Arkansas. After working 15 years in broadcast news including WOFL and WKMG in Orlando, Ms. Honey began her teaching career at East Ridge High in Clermont starting a brand new program from the ground up. CHRIS LENERZ Director Chris Lenerz teaches middle and high school journalism at Pine View School in Osprey, FL. He is the adviser for two print newspapers, a news magazine, an online publication, two yearbooks, a broadcast program and a literary magazine. He’s been an FSPA member since 2012. His favorite part of advising is seeing students develop as leaders through being involved with student-run publications. He believes journalism students are presented with the opportunity to foster skills and form relationships that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Contact Chris

|  PAST PRESIDENT BRIT TAYLOR Brit Taylor, CJE, is a yearbook, newspaper and website adviser in Oviedo, Florida. at Hagerty High School. He has advised yearbook for 26 years and newspaper for 22. Taylor is drawn to the real-world application of high school journalism, and he appreciates the many lessons that publications teach. As a member of FSPA, JEA, NSPA and CSPA, Taylor has presented and critiqued for publications nationwide. Contact Brit

BEN LANGEVIN Ben Langevin has been teaching in Seminole County since 2015. After a five year adventure at Jackson Heights Middle School, Ben currently advises The Oviedian yearbook, The Lion’s Tale newspaper and Novum literary magazine at Oviedo High School in Oviedo, FL. He’s presented at FSPA and previously worked as the movie and music critic for thedropp.com. He’s a graduate of the UCF Burnett Honors College, where he earned a BA in Creative Writing. EXECUTIVEDIRECTORADAM LIVESAY Adam Livesay, CJE, is the Executive Director for the Florida Scholastic Press Association. A three staff journalism junkie in high school (yearbook, newspaper and broadcast), Adam went on to get degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from the University of Central Florida. After graduating, he spent 8 years as a Yearbook Sales Representative in Tampa Bay and Central Florida. A presenter at journalism conventions and summer workshops, Adam is excited to continue his passion for working with students and their advisers and shaping scholastic journalism in Florida. CALLIE WILLIAMS Callie Williams has been teaching for 19 years in Brevard County. Williams currently advises all of the student publication staffs at Astronaut High School. She has advised the Golden Aerie yearbook staff since 2004, The Talon newspaper staff since 2010, and the War Eagle Television crew since 2013. Williams was the 2020 JAU Medal of Merit Award Winner, 2016 Teacher of the Year for Astronaut High School, 2016 Top 6 Finalist for Brevard Public Schools, and 2016 District 3 Teacher of the Year for FSPA. Williams created and administers the ‘Journalism Teachers’ Facebook group for advisers of all publication staffs anywhere. She believes in promoting student journalism and connecting with advisers and staffs across the country. She thinks that journalism is one of the most influential classes a high school student can take; it’s real experience in the world of publications. Contact Callie  D7 DIRECTORSARAH LERNERSarah Lerner, CJE, is the Aerie yearbook adviser at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Under Lerner’s leadership, Aerie has won countless awards from FSPA, NSPA & SIPA, as well as four Gold Crowns from CSPA. Lerner has been involved in FSPA since she was in high school in the 1990s. She began teaching in Broward County in 2002 and has been as MSD since 2014. She was awarded the 2019 CSPA Gold Key and was named the 2020 CSPA Special Recognition Adviser.
