2023 State Convention

The FSPA Student board is excited to welcome everyone back to an in-person convention on April 13-15 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive in Orlando.

The state chairs and district representatives plan on keeping the students up to date on events, activities, and competitions through our social media accounts. Please share with your students and staff and encourage them to follow these accounts.

2023 Convention Program



What to Expect

Thursday

  • Morning Activities (Check in begins at 10 a.m.) - Film festival, publication critiques, vendor booths, FSPA Crash Course, student rep contests
  • Opening Session - 2 p.m. - Pep rally, keynote speaker, CONTEST PROMPT DROP
  • On the Spot Contests
    • $5-$10 entry fee, 2 entries per contest per registered staff
    • Open registration - pick the contests you want to enter (online BNC platform)
    • Contests released after opening, with varying deadlines

  • Intensive Training Sessions
    • 90-minute hands-on training sessions for photography, Adobe products, more
    • $10 registration per student, limited seating, register when you register for convention

Friday

  • Classes covering all areas of journalism offered by professionals in each field
  • Banquet
  • High school dance and middle school games/activities

Saturday

  • Award ceremony
